Notification of Archaeological Trial at Proposed Site for Navenby Substation

National Grid has advised Navenby Parish Council that, following responses to an Environmental Impact Assessment scoping request and advice from Heritage Lincolnshire, they will be carrying out archaeological trial trenching work at the proposed site for Navenby Substation to support their planning application. Work is expected to take place from Monday 17 November until early 2026. These works will be carried out between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Thursday and 8am to 1pm on Fridays. In exceptional circumstances weekend working may be required, but it is not expected to be necessary. The project is being undertaken by Network Archaeology, a Lincoln-based commercial archaeology company, with expertise in conducting field evaluations across Lincolnshire. York Archaeology will also be on site whilst the work takes place. Disruption to the local community will be minimal and noise levels will be low. Once the works are complete, the area will be reinstated. The National Gird team will review results and update the Parish Council as their planning application progresses. If you have any questions, please let the Parish Council know.
